AGM 2008 Silent Vigil Charity Scam Again Contraceptive Pill Study The Royal Highland Show 2007 Newsletter 2007

We are very aware that it is now almost one year since we first embarked on our idea of a “Silent Vigil”. Our original plan was to have a procession of women walking silently along Princes Street in Edinburgh carrying a pink wooden lady. Unfortunately, after consultation with Lothian and Borders police and after a rethink on our potential exposure to exhaust fumes and environmental pollution, we decided to cancel this event.
The Board of SBCC has spent many, many hours trying to find a safer and better way of achieving our objective. Much thought and discussion has gone into finding not only a fitting tribute to the women who have lost their lives to breast cancer but also a way for loved ones to honour their memory with dignity and respect.
At present, we are working very hard on securing an alternative venue and are trying to fine-tune the event so that it will be not only achieve our campaigning objective but also be a tasteful memorial. The task is proving to be one of the most difficult we have undertaken.
However, we are confident that we are now on the right track and hope to make an announcement in the near future. To everyone who has bought a wooden lady, please be assured that we will contact you personally once the final arrangements have been agreed with all parties concerned.
We apologise for the delay in the Vigil – this is not because of lack of input or enthusiasm from the Board, but more because of a lack of foresight into the problems that this very simple idea would pose. We will post further news as soon as we are able.
